The Community at Sunset Wood Changes Leadership

Reverend Carol Jubenville to Step Down as Executive Director

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. – On the heels of the community recognition of “Best of the Best Apartment Facility” Award, The Community at Sunset Wood is making more changes. After Twenty-four years as Executive Director, Carol Jubenville will be stepping down and the facility’s Director of Operations, Dominick Manfredo has been selected as the new Executive Director effective January 1, 2020.

 

The Community at Sunset Wood is a senior housing facility with a rich history dating back to 1882 and has received recognition through numerous awards for their philosophy for aging in place. The facility has evolved into a senior housing model including services, for others to emulate throughout the State of New York and beyond.

 

Rev. Jubenville began as Executive Director in 1996 and has created an environment that aided the development of opportunities to help seniors have a unique housing experience that encourages “aging in place” while looking at the whole person and their needs. Jubenville attributes the success during her tenure to working with a wonderful staff and dedicated board members over the years.

 

In 2016, Dominick Manfredo was hired as Director of Operations and within the past four years the two have worked side by side with the plan of Manfredo becoming the next Executive Director. Rev. Jubenville said; “Dominick’s vision and ability to relate to the senior population will help formulate new opportunities for senior living in our area. This is a very exciting time for The Community at Sunset Wood and those we serve.”

 

Rev. Jubenville will be leaving the position at The Community at Sunset Wood to begin a new work as President and Founder of Divine Development and Leadership Group that will

offer nonprofits consulting services that will boost non-profit organizations succession plans, visioning and leadership at all levels.

 

Mr. Manfredo said; “I am both honored, and grateful to the board for this opportunity to lead such an influential organization of hard-working, dedicated and talented people. We will continue to tell our story of enabling seniors to live independently in a secure environment that enhances the quality of life while pushing the limits of creating innovative ways to fulfill our vision. This is truly a tremendous opportunity to lead the way in senior advocacy for our local community.”

 

The Community at Sunset Wood is a non-profit organization, offering seniors 62+ an environment that includes gracious living with options for aging in place. The Community at Sunset Wood is independently owned and has a Board of Directors that oversees long range goals and opportunities for programs that enhance a high quality of living within our community.

 

Sunset Wood consists of 42 suites and 24 penthouses nestled in the heart of the Village of New Hartford, the community is conveniently situated near shopping, restaurants, doctors’ offices and churches – many within walking distance.Most recently, Sunset Wood has invested nearly $1 million in upgrades. They feature a fine-dining room, where residents can enjoy elegant dining every evening, a Pub with fireplace and flat screen TV, a sunroom with pool table, a community room with a baby grand piano, luxurious 20ft granite-top wet bar and a roof-top patio. Surrounded by landscaping, bringing the Adirondacks right into the village of New Hartford.
