        The federal government released optimistic news that the work on a COVID-19 vaccine is well on its way and will hopefully be available by the end of this year. With that being said, they are prioritizing those in nursing homes and senior citizens to receive the vaccine once it becomes available.

        On a separate note, even though the big topic is “reopening,” realistically as a senior housing community we will be slower to reopen than the rest of the economy. This isn’t because we are not prepared, it is because we want to make sure that it is safe prior to opening our doors to people in the community. Internally, we have a process for every department and service to start up, however when this happens will be determined by our Regional Control Center that is comprised of our County Executive and the local Department of Health.

        Although we receive direction from these agencies, it is our responsibility to keep you safe during this crisis. With that being said, just because a Phase allows certain services to open, we have our own internal phases in place and will let you all know what they entail as we get closer.
